Government makes 12 contractual appointments, EC gets one too

Appointees are barred from holding any other job during the term

The government has made one-year contractual appointments to 12 key posts, including additional secretary at the Election Commission (EC).

The Ministry of Public Administration announced the decisions in separate orders on Thursday.

Aside from the EC role, the remaining 11 have been placed at grade-2 rank.

Shamsul Alam takes charge as additional secretary at the EC Secretariat for one year.

Salahuddin Sarkar becomes director general of the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation.

Md Rashedul Haque joins as managing director of the Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL).

Md Mossaddique Hossain Bulbul heads the Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation, ATM Abdul Bari Danny leads the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), and Md Kamruzzaman becomes executive secretary of the Bangladesh National Social Welfare Council.

At the same rank, Abdul Khaleque takes over the Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation, Shamsuzzaman (Suruj) the Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation, Kazi Rownakul Islam (Tipu) the Bangladesh Climate Change Trust, Zakir Siddiqui the Bangladesh Handloom Board, Benazir Ahmed the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC), and Mamun Hasan the Bangladesh Jute Corporation.

Under the terms of appointment, each official must cut ties with any other profession, business or organisation, government or private, for the length of their contract, starting from the date they join.
