Nine, including child, killed in head-on bus collision in Sylhet's Osmani Nagar

Another 12 people are injured in the accident

A head-on collision between two buses has killed nine people, including a child, in Sylhet’s Osmani Nagar Upazila. 

Another 12 people have been injured.

The crash occurred around 7am on Friday on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway near Kashikapan, Sherpur Highway Police chief Md Anisur Rahman said.

Three of the dead have been identified as Saptam Ray Pritom, 22; 3-year-old Jaifa; and Haji Saiful Islam, 50.

 They were travelling on a Unique Paribahan bus.

The collision involved buses operated by Unique Paribahan and Bengal Paribahan, officer Rahman said. 

He added that seven people died at the scene, while a child and another injured passenger passed away after being taken to hospital.

The injured have been admitted to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet.

"We are gathering identities and details of the dead and will inform you," the police officer said.
