Gono Odhikar Parishad (GOP) chief Nurul Haque Nur is headed to Singapore for advanced medical treatment.

He left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on board a Biman Bangladesh flight on Monday.

GOP General Secretary Rashed Khan told bdnews24.com, “He left around 8:25am, and will return home after completing his treatment.”

Party spokesman Faruk Hasan said, “The medical board has advised that he be taken abroad for better treatment. He will receive treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore."

Leaders and activists of the Jatiya Party (JP) and GOP clashed on Aug 29. At least 50 people, including Nur and Rashed Khan, were injured when the law enforcers charged the party activists with batons.

Nur, who was in critical condition at one point due to injuries, underwent treatment in Dhaka Medical College Hospital. After 18 days of treatment, Nur was released last week and went home.
