RAB's spokesperson ATM Habibur Rahman told bdnews24.com that they were arrested from different parts of the country on Monday night.

The arrested men are 'Harun', 'Mehedi', 'Monir' and 'Jewel'.

Of them, Harun and Monir were involved in the shootout, while the other two plotted the attack, according to the RAB official.

Miscreants fired at Shamim in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi on Jun 19.

He was rushed to the Bangladesh Medical College and Hospital with bullet wounds on his left hand. Later, he was shifted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

Shamim, a member of Awami League’s central committee, served as the BCL president from 1994 to 1998. He was also a BCL leader of Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit.

Hailing from Shariatpur, Shamim was vice president of JU Central Students’ Union from 1989 to 1991.
