The husband of a Baul singer has been killed in Narayanganj’s Fatullah.

Local police chief Anwar Hossain said the blood-stained body of the 35-year-old man, Sumon Khalifa, was found dumped on a road, later recovered at 7:30am on Monday.

A resident of Siddhirganj, police said, the slain man had accompanied his wife, Sonia Akter, to a musical event at Panchaboti.

Sumon had left the music event at 10:30pm, leaving his wife behind.

Sonia performed at the event all night long and had gone to the local police station to report her husband missing in the morning. The police showed Sonia the recovered body, which she identified as Sumon’s.

Police spotted wounds at the back of Sumon’s head, on his back and hip.

“This is a murder. We cannot say more than that at this moment,” said Anwar.
