The health directorate has summoned the authorities of a private hospital in Dhaka’s Shyamoli over the death of a child allegedly due to oxygen line leakage.

Confirming the development on Wednesday, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Director Abu Hussain Md Moinul Ahsan said they would decide the hospital's fate after recording the authorities' statement on the allegation on Thursday.

The 4-month-old child died at Shyamoli Baby Care and General Hospital around 6:30pm on Tuesday.

The child’s father Md Faruq blamed an oxygen leak: “My child was recovering, but he died due to an accident, which the hospital authorities are denying.”

Amid the leakage on Tuesday, the hospital authorities transferred five admitted children to another health facility upstairs.

At that time, the 4-month-old baby died of complications from measles.

The hospital authorities said the child’s physical condition had been deteriorating since the afternoon.

They said the child’s death has nothing to do with the leakage.
