DMP arrest 446 people in Dhaka crackdown, seize arms and drugs

At least 56 cases have been filed during the period in addition to the arrests, DMP says

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested 446 people in the past 24 hours and recovered arms and drugs from their possession.

In a media statement issued on Thursday morning, the DMP said 56 cases were filed during the period in addition to the arrests.

Among the arrestees, 21 were from the Ramna Division, 38 from Lalbagh, 104 from Wari, 49 from Motijheel, 74 from Tejgaon, 83 from Mirpur, 38 from Gulshan, and 35 from Uttara. Four people were arrested by the Detective Branch (DB).

The DMP said the arrests were made as part of its routine drives.

The seized items included one foreign-made pistol, 3,755 yaba tablets, 9kg of cannabis, 7g of heroin, one microbus, five mobile phones, one motorcycle, and two sharp weapons.

The statement also said one kidnapping victim was rescued during the operation.
