The acting principal of Hatibandha Model College in Lalmonirhat, Hasen Ali, has been served a show-cause notice for allegedly forging the signature of the Upazila Nirbahi (executive) Officer (UNO).

The notice was issued on Thursday, confirmed the college governing body president and Hatibandha UNO Shamim Mia.

Hasen also served as chief of the local unit of the Jamaat-e-Islami.

Following news of the allegations, the party held an emergency meeting on Thursday and relieved him of his organisational duties, according to Abu Taher, chief of Jamaat’s Lalmonirhat district committee.

Hasen assumed office as the acting principal since May 13.

He allegedly sent 13 files to the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) showing fresh appointments, using a forged or scanned signature of the governing body president – the UNO.

“I did not sign those 13 files,” said UNO Shamim.

“They were sent using a scanned copy of my signature, which amounts to forgery. That is why he has been issued a show-cause notice. Legal action will follow after investigation,” he said.
