Biman Bangladesh Airlines has started a case against two people for attempting to cheat an oral recruitment test by going in another’s stead.

One of the accused, Asif Hasan - a 30-year-old from Jamalpur’s Sarishabari Upazila, was arrested and handed over to the police by Biman authorities.

Another suspect in the case, Md Humayun Kabir from the same Upazila, is on the run.

Biman Assistant Manager (Security) Md Jamal Hossain initiated the case at the Airport Police Station on Wednesday.

According to the case dossier, the oral examination board members questioned a candidate named Asif as he appeared suspicious during the test for the position of ground service assistant.

Asif later admitted that he did not take part in the written test. Instead, with the help of Humayun, someone else took the written examination for him and he attended the viva test for another candidate.

Biman authorities fear that a syndicate runs a "recruitment trade" for the national flag carrier's posts in a pre-planned way and Asif is a member of that gang.

Airport police Inspector Taslima Akhter said, "We are trying to bring in the fugitive suspect in the case. And the other suspect was produced before the court [Thursday].”

Earlier, Biman filed a case after detaining several members of an “organised gang” that supplied proxy candidates on behalf of others for the post of ground service assistant.
