Dhaka, May 22 (bdnews24.com) – The High Court Tuesday granted interim bails to 39 Awami League leaders who had accompanied party chief Sheikh Hasina from London to Dhaka early this month.
The High Court bench of Justice Khademul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam granted the bail on three separate petitions.
Joint forces on May 14 arrested 40 activists, including some British-Bangladeshis, in Sylhet. They include Sarwar Hossain, president of AL in Canada, and its joint secretary in the UK Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury.
Police filed a case accusing them of engaging in moves to destabilise law and order by defying the emergency rules.
One of the accused, Abdul Khalek, was not awarded leave from the jail in absence of case docket
