Offices reopen on Monday after long Eid holiday

Offices will reopen on Monday after a long seven-day holiday on the occasion of Eid ul-Azha.

All financial institutions in the country, including banks, insurance companies and the stock market, will also reopen.

Although some bank branches remained open on a limited scale before Eid, regular transactions will resume at all banks across the country from Monday.

The Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges will also reopen.

Financial institutions and courts began to close on May 25 in line with the public holiday.

The government had previously announced in a notice that banks, offices and courts would reopen on Jun 1 after the holiday.

However, some bank branches in garment industry areas remained open on May 25 and May 26 to facilitate the payment of salaries and bonuses to those working in the readymade garments sector, the country's main export earner.

In addition, instructions were also issued to continue import and export activities on a limited scale at bank branches, sub-branches and booths in the sea, land and airport areas.

Government offices, courts and all branches of all banks were open on May 23 and May 24 ahead of the Eid break, despite the weekend holiday on the former date.

As per the government’s decision, all public, semi-public, autonomous, semi-autonomous and private offices across the country have been closed from May 25 to May 31 for Eid-ul-Azha.
