BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has asked everyone to remain vigilant saying that there is a conspiracy at home and abroad to deprive people of their right to vote.

Speaking at a BNP programme in Badda on Saturday afternoon, he said the party would return to the field if any disruption is created in the people’s interest.

"We have to be prepared. There is a conspiracy at home and abroad, to deprive you of your voting rights again. We're not going to let that happen."

"Everyone should be careful and alert. The conspiracy is not over. We will establish a people's government by foiling all conspiracies."

The BNP has been demanding an early parliamentary election amid the interim government’s reform initiatives for the country’s democratic transition following the Awami League government’s fall in the July Uprising on Aug 5 last year.

However, numerous parties, including one of the students who led the Uprising, the National Citizen Party (NCP), have been demanding the Constituent Assembly election to reform the constitution, which the BNP opposes.

Fakhrul warned, "I will cast my vote, I will give it to whoever I want.

“We're still not on the road. But the BNP knows how to take to the street and make demands."

“HASINA’S FALL AT GOD’S COMMAND”

Fakhrul said, “Around 90 percent of the leaders and activists were taken to jail. Some 20,000 of ‘our’ loyalists were killed by Sheikh Hasina's Awami League government. About 1,700 supporters were killed. False cases were filed against 6 million people. There are very few examples of this in the history of world democracy."

"We've overcome that situation. It seems to me that through the infinite miraculous power of the Almighty Allah, He suddenly made Hasina disappear one day. Hasina disappeared at the behest of Him.

“We have come to a place in a free environment after getting rid of the atrocities she [Hasina] inflicted on people."
