Police have submitted chargesheets for 26 cases filed across Bangladesh in connection with murders and other offences committed during last year's anti-government protests.
These include eight murder cases and 18 cases involving other criminal charges, the Police Headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.
The chargesheets in the murder cases were submitted in Sherpur, Feni, Chandpur, Cumilla, and Kurigram districts, as well as Chattogram.
Additionally, police in the Bogura, Chapainawabganj, Sirajganj, Pabna, and Jamalpur districts, along with the Dhaka, Barishal, and Rajshahi, as well as the Police Bureau of Investigation, have submitted chargesheets for the 18 other cases.
The statement also mentioned that the eight murder cases have a total of 1,153 suspects, and the other cases implicate 682 suspects.
According to Police Headquarters sources, a total of 1,730 cases, including murders, were initiated nationwide during the Anti-discrimination Movement.
Senior police officers are supervising the cases filed during the July Uprising to ensure proper investigation.
