Relief and Disaster Management Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has fallen ill after landing at Saidpur Airport in Nilphamari while en route to Lalmonirhat on a two-day official visit.

He was taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) at Saidpur Cantonment, where doctors provided primary treatment and advised transferring him to Dhaka by air ambulance, Abdur Gafur Sarkar, president of Saidpur Upazila unit BNP, said on Saturday.

He said the minister arrived at the airport in the morning and was sitting in the rest room speaking with party leaders when he suddenly felt dizzy and unwell.

Following advice from doctors and party members, preparations were made to send him back to the capital on a scheduled flight at 12:10pm, he added.

However, as his condition did not improve, he could not board the flight.

A decision was later taken around 1:30pm to transfer him by air ambulance instead.

The aircraft has already departed from Dhaka and will take the minister back once it arrives in Saidpur, Gafur said.
