Home Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said at least 100 cold storage facilities are being constructed by both small and large companies across Bangladesh to preserve raw materials, including vegetables.
He made the remarks on Wednesday afternoon following a meeting to review the overall progress of projects under the Ministry of Agriculture.
The meeting took place at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) conference room in Farmgate.
“Ordinary farmers will get the opportunity to store raw materials, including vegetables. If the projects undertaken in several agricultural sectors, including canal digging and rainwater retention, are implemented, everyone from farmers to consumers will benefit.”
Jahangir also said those involved in recent incidents of torture and rape in Muradnagar and Bhola in Cumilla “have been and are being brought to justice quickly.”
He added, “There is no exemption for the criminals.”
When asked about the discovery of a weapon magazine in Advisor Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain’s handbag at the airport, Jahangir said: “Advisor Asif Mahmud obtained a weapon licence by following the legal process.”
On Sunday, airport officials found a magazine in Asif’s handbag at Shahjalal International Airport as he was preparing to leave the country, drawing widespread public attention.
