The Public Service Commission is planning to begin the viva voce for the 49th Special BCS from Oct 26 to recruit teachers for government colleges.

To meet that schedule, the PSC said it will publish the results of the multiple-choice written test “very soon”.

“The commission is working to deliver the written test results accurately within a short time. The results will be published either this week or next week,” spokesperson SM Matiur Rahman said on Tuesday night.

“Preparations have been made to begin the viva from the 26th of October.”

The written test was held on Friday at 184 centres in Dhaka, where more than 312,000 applicants sat the exam.

Of them, 176,670 candidates took part -- 56.49 percent of total applicants.

Through a notice issued on Jul 21, the PSC announced it would recruit 653 teachers for government general colleges and 30 for government teacher training colleges.

Applications were accepted from 12:10pm on Jul 22 to 6pm on Aug 22.

Applicants paid a Tk 200 application fee, while candidates from underprivileged communities paid Tk 50.

The maximum age limit for applicants was set at 32 years.
