Following clashes between two student halls, 31 students have been temporarily expelled from Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) in Dinajpur.
The university administration also announced the indefinite closure of all the residential halls and ordered students to vacate the dormitories by 4pm on Friday.
However, foreign students are exempted from these decisions.
In addition, police have been deployed on the campus to avoid any untoward situation.
The decisions came at the 27th meeting of the university's Housing and Disciplinary Board on Thursday night, Registrar Prof Md Abu Hasan in two separate office orders.
More than 100 students from Shaheed Abrar Fahad Hall, carrying locally made weapons and sticks, entered Shaheed Nur Hossain Hall around 2:30pm on Thursday and launched an attack on its residents.
They vandalised furniture, CCTV cameras and other hall property, including the prayer room, leaving several students injured alongside an assistant proctor.
Following an emergency meeting, the administration later decided to temporarily expel 31 students, citing video evidence and witness testimony.
