Government extends probe commission’s tenure on Milestone jet crash

Its tenure has been extended until Sept 23

The government has extended the tenure of the commission formed to investigate the Bangladesh Army jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara.

According to a notification, the tenure of the commission, and the deadline for submitting its report have been extended until Sept 23. The order is effective from Aug 24.

On Jul 21, a fighter jet crashed into Milestone School and College in Uttara’s Diabari, killing and injuring many, mostly children.

Six days later, on Jul 27, the government formed a nine-member inquiry commission, headed by former secretary AKM Zafar Ullah Khan, to determine the cause of the crash, assign responsibility, and assess damages.

The commission was initially asked to submit its report within four weeks.
