Meghmallar Bosu’s condition has improved and he is now “much more stable”, according to fellow activists.
The former president of a faction of the Dhaka University unit of the Bangladesh Students’ Union and National People’s Action (NPA) central council member is receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The young politician, who is on life support at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, is receiving less artificial oxygen, while a seven-member medical board oversees his treatment.
On Thursday, NPA Member Secretary Sajib Tanvir said: “His breathing difficulty has eased and the level of artificial oxygen support is being gradually reduced towards normal.
“His consciousness level is increasing. His blood pressure, pulse and other physical parameters are currently stable.”
Tanvir is coordinating with the hospital over Meghmallar’s treatment.
The seven-member board includes four professors and three associate professors, including heads of several departments.
Hospital Director Brig Gen Md Asaduzzaman is overseeing the overall treatment.
Meghmallar was found unconscious near Ramna Gate in Suhrawardy Udyan late Monday and taken to hospital. Doctors washed his stomach due to suspected poisoning.
Initially treated in bed 3 of room 602, he was moved to the fifth-floor ICU Tuesday after deteriorating.
His condition worsened Wednesday and he was put on life support, where he remained Thursday night.
