The Mohanagar Express, bound for Dhaka from Chittagong, has gone off the track at Nangalkot in Cumilla, suspending train services on one of the Chittagong–Dhaka rail tracks.

The incident occurred around 3pm on Monday near Nangalkot, Station Master Jamal Uddin said.

He said, “The trains are running on the down line now. Once the rescue train arrives from Laksam Junction and clears the derailed coach, services on the up line will resume.”

The derailment involved the sixth coach of the air-conditioned chair car, which went off the track while passing through Khanapara, between Hasanpur and Nangalkot.

No casualties have been reported so far.

Jamal added that the cause of the accident will be investigated and that appropriate measures will be taken to prevent future incidents.
