PM Tarique attends ECNEC meeting ahead of budget speech

The meeting of the executive committee comes ahead of the budget speech in parliament on Thursday

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) is meeting ahead of Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury presenting the national budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 in the parliament on Thursday.

The meeting began at 10:30am on Tuesday in the Public Administration Meeting Room of the Cabinet Division of the Secretariat, the press wing of the Prime Minister's Office said.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is presiding over the meeting.

On May 18, the ECNEC meeting chaired by the prime minister approved an Annual Development Programme (ADP) outlay of Tk 3 trillion for the upcoming fiscal year.

Before that, on May 12, the ECNEC meeting approved a total of nine mega projects, including the “Padma Barrage” project, costing more than Tk 330 billion.

Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Power and Energy Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood, Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Water Resources Minister Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain, Agriculture Minister Mohammed Aminur Rashid, Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam, along with state ministers, advisors and secretaries of ministries also attended the meeting.
