The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has held a meeting with stakeholders to determine how much bus and truck fares should increase following the recent fuel price hike.

The meeting began at 7:20pm on Sunday at the BRTA office in Dhaka’s Banani.

An official present at the meeting told bdnews24.com that discussions were under way on revising fares for diesel-run buses and minibuses.

He said transport owners' associations are expected to submit their proposals for a revised fare structure, which will then be analysed by the regulatory body.

The meeting is being chaired by BRTA Chairman Meer Ahemed Tariqul Omar.

Representatives from the Bangladesh Road Transport Owners’ Association, including its president and general secretary, as well as leaders of the Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners’ Association, are attending the talks.

The discussion was still ongoing at the time of filing this report at 10pm.
