Government withdraws Hatia UNO over social media video scandal

A 29-second clip involving the officer and a woman has been circulating on social media since Monday

The government has made Hatia Upazila administrator (UNO) Md Alauddin an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) following the leak of an explicit video.

The decision was communicated in a notification signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Tanveer Hasan Rouman on Tuesday evening.

OSDs are usually not assigned any work in the policymaking or implementation process of the government.

The move comes after a 29-second video involving the official and a young woman began circulating on social media platforms on Monday, sparking widespread criticism.

Alauddin could not be reached for comment as his mobile phone remained switched off.
