ACC says part of Hasina’s locker gold belongs to family, Pubali locker empty

Investigators seize 9.7kg of gold from two lockers but find Pubali Bank locker empty

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has found that gold seized from two Agrani Bank lockers under ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s name partly belongs to her, her daughter Saima Wazed Putul, and her sister Sheikh Rehana.

A third locker in Pubali Bank was also opened, yielding only “a small empty jute bag”.

The two Agrani Bank lockers, jointly held with Rehana and Putul, were opened on Tuesday night, yielding 831.67 bhori of gold, equal to 9.7kg.

ACC Director General Md Akhtar Hossain said each ornament carried a separate marking to indicate ownership.

Alongside the Agrani Bank lockers, another locker at Pubali Bank was opened the same night.

Locker No. 128 contained only a small empty jute bag, Akhtar added.
