Man killed in Rangpur ‘gunfight’
A man has been killed in a ‘gunfight’ with the police in Rangpur’s Gangachara.

Rangpur Additional Superintendent of Police Saifur Rahman claimed the victim was a robber who was shot dead in the Betgari area of the district on Sunday night.
The police could not immediately identify the victim.
A group of robbers were preparing to commit robbery in the Betgari area when a police patrol arrived in the area, he said. The robbers then opened fire.
"Police retaliated in self-defence. At one stage, one of the robbers was killed."
Five policemen were also injured in the gunfight, ASP Rahman.
Police added that they recovered a pistol and several makeshift weapons from the crime scene.
