The Mohila Awami League, the woman wing of the ruling party, in Canada organised the discussion to spread the message of the books – ‘Unfinished Memoirs’ and ‘Karagarer Rojnamcha: A Jail Diary’.

Both the books serve as an invaluable document of the father of the nation’s time in jail.

He penned the ‘The Unfinished Memoirs’, which was published in 2012, during his time in jail from 1967 to 1969.

The second book “Karagarer Rojnamcha”, also depicting Bangabandhu’s life in prison was launched in 2017.

The manuscript of the book was a handwritten ‘khata’ or notebook Bangabandhu used to keep in prison. It was confiscated by the Pakistani government, but Special Branch of police found it in 2014.

President of Canada Mohila League Hasina Akhter Janu chaired the discussion where dramatist Akhter Hossain, journalist Saugat Ali Sagar, and former vice-president of Bangladesh Agriculure University Fayezul Huq were among the speakers.

Songs on Bangabandhu followed the discussion.
