Four die after being electrocuted in Cumilla

Four people died from electrocution after a live power line fell on their autorickshaw in Cumilla’s Langalkot Upazila on Friday, police said.

The incident that took place in Bagmara area around 12:30pm also left a woman injured, said Ashraful Islam Ashraf, chief of the local police station.

They were electrocuted while the autorickshaw carrying them was heading for Langalkot, said OC Ashraf.

The dead were identified as Abu Bayezid, 28, sister Fahima Akhter, 16, and their father Maulana Abu Taher, 75, and autorickshaw driver Sarowar Alam, 30.

Bayezid's injured wife Bibi Mariam, 20, was taken to the Langalkot Upazila Health Complex.

Bayezid returned home from Oman three days ago. He and his family members were going to his father-in-law's residence at Thollapara from Shankarpur by the autorickshaw, said Ashraf citing locals.

The bodies were sent to the hospital morgue. Police started a case.
