Police arrested one of the suspected attackers with a revolver at Hatirjheel after the attack around 1pm.

Police said the victim, Badsha, died while being treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 6pm.

The attackers shot him from a close range, Badda Police Station OC Kazi Wazed Ali told bdnews24.com.

“The people of the area chased the attackers and caught one of them with a revolver in Hatirjheel area. The locals beat him up before handing him to police,” he added.

The suspect gunman, 38-year-old Nurul Islam, was also admitted to the hospital.

The OC could not give further details on Badsha or Nurul, but said both of them belong to a gang of miscreants.

He said they were checking the motive behind the murder.
