Nine sentenced to death for 2017 murder of Narail Awami League leader
A Khulna court has sentenced nine people, including a former UP chairman, to death for the murder of Narail Awami League leader Probhash Roy.

The Khulna Speedy Trial Tribunal announced the verdict on Sunday, within a year of the incident. All the convicts were present in court to hear the verdict.
The convicts are Bhadrabila Union Council Chairman Md Shahidur Rahman Mina, his brother Md Ilias Mina, his son Md Ashiqur Mina, Md Russel Mina, Bashar Molla, Robiul Molla, Enayet Molla, Yasin Molla and Mamun Mina.
They court fined them with Tk 50,000 each, said the state’s counsel Enamul Hoque.
Probhash Roy, president of Bhadrabila Awami League, was hacked to death while talking to the general secretary of his unit on Feb 1, 2017, according to the case dossier.
The incident took place at Mirpara Bazaar in Narail town.
Probhash’s wife Tutul Rani Roy started the murder case against Shahidur and eight others the same day.
