Police said his car was found late on Tuesday on the road from Kuril Biswa Road to Purbachal in Dhaka.

Zaman, who has served as ambassador to Vietnam, left his home at the capital’s Dhanmondi on Monday evening to pick up his daughter Samiha Zaman from the airport, but never reached there, Dhanmondi police’s Inspector Parvez Islam told bdnews24.com on Tuesday.

The family have filed a missing person’s report with the Dhanmondi police on Tuesday, said OC Md Abdul Latif.

“His daughter came home from the airport on her own after failing to reach her father on phone,” he said.

Latif added Zaman’s car was found abandoned on the road that heads to the Purbachal Residential Area from Kuril Biswa Road, known as the 300-feet road to Dhaka residents. “But we are yet to trace him.”

Samiha told bdnews24.com she landed in Dhaka at 8pm on Monday after a seven-week trip to Belgium to visit her elder sister. “I waited for two hours.”

She said her father was driving the car, which was found late on Tuesday. “But there’s no trace of him.”
