Crack Platoon guerrilla fighter Masud Sadique Chullu dies

Valiant freedom fighter Abul Masud Sadique Chullu has died from heart disease. He was 74.

The member of the Crack Platoon breathed his last at his home in Dhaka's Banani at 5pm on Monday
 
The 1971 independence war veteran has left behind his wife Yasmin Sadique and daughter Sanjana Sadique.

Masud Sadique, known as Chullu to his close ones, was a member of the Crack Platoon, a group that gave the Pakistani Army much headache during the war by conducting sudden guerrilla operations.

He took part in the famous bomb attack on the then Hotel Intercontinental in Dhaka during the war.

Masud Sadique is the younger brother of late education minister ASHK Sadique, whose widow Ismat Ara Sadique is State Minister for Public Administration now.

His fellow fighter Shahidullah Khan Badal told bdnews24.com that Chullu's body was kept at the United Hospital mortuary. 

His funeral prayers will be held at Banani Old DOHS Mosque on Wednesday afternoon after his daughter returns from the United States, according to Badal.  

He also said the 'initial decision' is to bury him next to his mother at Banani Graveyard.

The final decision on the burial will be taken when Sanjana returns.
