The order meant for the offices of the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) and Rural Electricity Society comes following a spate of terror attacks.

A letter by BREB Chairman Major General Moin Uddin carrying instructions were sent to field offices on Thursday, said Omar Faruk, its public relations official.

It asked officials to be vigilant about strangers in their areas. New faces in the mosques within the premises should be closely watched.

These are ‘preventative measures’ for Key Point Installations (KPI) after the deadly terror attacks in Dhaka’s Gulshan and Kishoreganj’s Sholakia, the spokesman said.

The BREB notice among other things ordered the installation of CCTV cameras, metal detectors and fire extinguishers.

The offices have been asked to maintain uninterrupted power supply.
