Police arrest six Harkat-ul-Jihad activists from Old Dhaka

Detectives have arrested six activists of banned militant outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad (HuJI) from Old Dhaka.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) spokesperson Maruf Hossain Sardar said the arrests were made on Tuesday night from Zindabahar Park area.

Those arrested have been identified as Sajjadul Alam Mukti, 46, Mesbah Ur Rahman Pradip, 37, ‘Bashar’, 37, ‘Ashraf’, 37, ‘Aziz’ alias ‘Babu’, 36 and ‘Shafik’ alias ‘Palash’ alias ‘Bijoy’, 35.

Details will be provided at a media briefing later, said DMP Deputy Commissioner Sardar.

Detective Branch Senior Assistant Commissioner Mahmuda Afroze said that Pradip works as a driver for Kushtia’ Mirpur Fire Service.

Jihadi literature and propaganda material have been seized from the six, she said.
