His lawyer Shishir Mohammad Monir said the supplementary appeal by chief defence counsel Khandker Mahbub Hossain was submitted to relevant section of Appellate Division on Sunday afternoon.

“He (Hossain) has pleaded for four weeks’ time citing personal reasons,” Monir said.

Kamaruzzaman’s lawyers filed the review plea on the 14th day of publication of the full verdict by the top court.

Khandker Mahbub had told reporters that they would request the court not to hurry with the review.

Mymensingh’s Al Badr commander Kamaruzzaman was sentenced to death in 2013 for his war-time atrocities which the top court dubbed “worse than the Nazis”.

The Appellate Division upheld the maximum penalty and a death warrant was issued on Feb 19.

On Sunday, chamber judge Justice Hasan Foez Siddique fixed Monday for bringing up the petition on the top court’s cause list.

“We hope a hearing will take place Monday,” Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said.
