The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Md Nazmul Quaunine presented his credentials to the Governor-General Michael Ogio.

Quaunine is a career diplomat and is currently the resident ambassador of Bangladesh to Indonesia and concurrently accredited to Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste.

After presenting his credentials, he had a brief meeting with the Governor-General where he briefed him Bangladesh’s ongoing development activities.

The director general appreciated the role that Bangladesh has been playing in the Commonwealth and other international areas for global peace, security and development, the Ministry says in a media release.

The ambassador also had separate meetings with some key ministers in which he discussed bilateral issues with particular focus on employment of skilled and semi-skilled manpower, import of ready-made clothes, pharmaceuticals, and other products from Bangladesh.

He was urged to relax and simplify visa procedure for Bangladeshi nationals.
