Veteran journalist KG Mustafa dies

Language hero and veteran journalist KG Mustafa died in a Dhaka hospital early Saturday. He had been suffering from kidney and heart problems for some time. He was 86.

Dhaka, Mar 13 (bdnews24.com) – Language hero and veteran journalist KG Mustafa died in a Dhaka hospital early Saturday. He had been suffering from kidney and heart problems for some time. He was 86.
He breathed his last at the Lab Aid Hospital, relatives said.
Mustafa was admitted to the hospital on Feb 8 and had been kept in the intensive care unit since Feb 16.
He will be kept in the hospital until his son Sabir Mustafa, head of BBC Bengali Service, returns from London Sunday, relatives said.
Mustafa started his journalism career with the daily Ittehad. He also worked in daily Azad, Sangbad and the Observer. He also served as the editor of the now defunct daily Muktakantha.
He was a communist and took part in the 1952 language movement.
Mustafa was a close friend of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, both of them studied in Kolkata Islamia College.
He also served as an ambassador to Lebanon in the mid-1970s.
