In a scene that left locals both startled and amused, an injured Hanuman langur has sought treatment at a hospital in Jhikargachha Upazila of Jashore after reportedly making earlier stops at a health complex and a police station.
The langur, bearing bruises along its back, walked into the hospital’s emergency room on Sunday afternoon and perched quietly on a table, said Upazila Livestock Officer Masuma Akhtar.
What followed was a curious display of instinct — or perhaps desperation.
The animal later wandered into the pharmacy, opening medicine bottles and sniffing their contents, as if searching for relief.
Despite the unusual circumstances, the langur remained calm throughout. Medical staff cleaned its wounds with antiseptic solution, Masuma said.
“It appears someone struck it on the back with a sharp object,” she added, noting that the primate had been seen roaming restlessly across the area since the incident.
Before arriving at the hospital, the langur had reportedly been spotted at the Jhikargachha Upazila Health Complex and the local police station — an unusual journey that has since captured the attention of residents.
