The government has appointed two new secretaries to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.

Separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Sunday said Md Ashraful Islam, an additional secretary at the Ministry of Defence, has been promoted and posted as secretary to the Liberation War affairs ministry.

Kaniz Mowla has been appointed secretary at the culture ministry. She had been serving as secretary to the Parliament Secretariat.

An earlier order issued on Mar 25 had transferred her to the Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Division. That order was suspended on Sunday and she was instead given charge of the culture ministry, the notifications said.

Meanwhile, Ishrat Chowdhury, secretary at the Liberation War affairs ministry, and Md Mofidur Rahman, secretary at the culture ministry, have been attached to the public administration ministry. Separate orders were issued in this regard.

The reshuffle comes after the BNP-led government took office on Feb 12 this year, having won a two-thirds majority in the general election. Since then, the government has begun a broader round of changes across state institutions and offices, including fresh appointments to various posts and the appointment of new deputy commissioners in districts.
