Reports confirm the suspects fled to India following the hit on Hadi

The Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal Police has arrested Faisal Karim Masud, the prime suspect in the murder of Inqilab Moncho leader Osman Hadi, along with his associate Alamgir Hossain.

According to an ANI report and STF media statement on Sunday, the duo was intercepted in Bongaon in the wee hours of Mar 8.

Interrogations revealed they entered India illegally via the Meghalaya border after committing extortion and murder in Bangladesh.

"The suspects were taking shelter near the border, intending to flee back to Bangladesh," the STF noted.

Based on information obtained during initial questioning, the STF said Faisal and his associate fled to India after killing Hadi.

They allegedly entered India illegally through the Meghalaya border and after moving around several locations across the country, eventually travelled to Bongaon with the intention of returning to Bangladesh.

The force said a case has been filed in connection with the incident.

The duo were placed in police custody for interrogation after being produced before a court on Sunday.
