Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has appointed two more special assistants with the rank of state minister.
Former secretary Bijan Kanti Sarkar has been named special assistant for Hindu, Buddhist, Christian and ethnic minority affairs.
He is also a member of the BNP chairperson’s advisory council and serves as chairman of the Hindu Buddhist Christian Welfare Front.
Tanvir Ghani has been appointed as special assistant for investment and the capital market.
A gazette notification confirming the appointments was issued by the Cabinet Division on Thursday.
Tanvir is co-founder and chairman of Tybourne Capital Management, an Asia-based asset management firm.
A graduate of Columbia University, he oversees investments exceeding $8 billion across global markets.
Earlier on the same day, two others – Md Shakirul Islam Khan and Md Sayed bin Abdullah – were also appointed as special assistants to the prime minister.
Shakirul will be responsible for overseas employment in the Asia Pacific region, with Sayed tasked with youth employment.
