President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has visited Energy Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood Tuku at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital & Research Institute.
“At 9:30am, the president visited the ailing Energy Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood Tuku. He stayed by his bedside for some time,” Assistant Private Secretary to the President Md Yunus Ali said on Wednesday.
“The doctors have informed his excellency about the energy minister’s physical condition. [Fakhrul] also spoke to the energy minister’s son Abed Hassan Mahmood.”
State Minister for Energy Aninda Islam Amit, Military Secretary to the President Maj Gen ASM Bahauddin, personal physician to the president Col AKM Faizul Haque, and Yunus were also present for the visit.
Tuku was admitted to Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital at 10:30pm on Tuesday.
His son Abed said his father had been suffering from a high fever for the past few days.
Later, on the advice of specialist doctors, it was decided to admit him to the hospital for tests and advanced treatment.
Abed said that his treatment is being closely monitored by doctors.
