Election Commission to unveil election schedule in first half of December, says Commissioner Sanaullah

The EC commissioner says observer organisations must submit their lists within 10 days of the schedule announcement

The schedule for the next parliamentary polls is going to be announced in the first half of December, Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah has said.

On Tuesday, he said election observer organisations must submit lists to the commission within 10 days after the schedule announcement.

The Election Commission (EC) said the polls would likely take place in the first half of February, aligned with the government’s suggestion, leaving nearly 60 days between the schedule announcement and voting.

The precise date will be announced in the schedule.

In a dialogue on Tuesday, Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin reiterated commitment to ensuring a free and fair election despite challenges, urging observer organisations to support the commission’s efforts.

“Our agenda is simple -- deliver a fair, transparent, and credible election for the nation,” he said.
