Four workers have burned when a circuit breaker exploded at the Dhaka Regency Hotel and Resort early on Friday.

The incident occurred during routine air-conditioner servicing, when the circuit breaker suddenly exploded, leaving the workers injured.

The victims were identified by their single names as Mansur, 32, Mahin, 17, Abdul Matin, 67, and Abdul Jalil, 67.

They were taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said the facility’s Resident Surgeon Shawon bin Rahman.

According to Shawon, Mansur suffered burns to about 21 percent of his body and is in critical condition. He has been admitted to hospital.

Matin and Mahin sustained burns to around 5 percent of their bodies, while Jalil suffered burns to about 8 percent.

The three are currently under observation.
