Cleanliness and drainage problems at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital will be resolved within seven days, Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain has said.
After inspecting the largest public hospital in Sylhet Division on Friday, the minister said a nationwide measles vaccination drive would resume later this month.
“We are going to restart the vaccination campaign within three months to curb measles,” he said, adding that the government had brought in enough vaccines.
According to him, measles vaccines have already been administered across Bangladesh except in Rangamati and Bandarban.
Sakhawat said he had inspected more than 25 hospitals since taking charge and found doctors fully present at all of them.
Patients, he said, had reported improved treatment quality and surroundings, along with better food standards.
He added that he was unaware of the specific situation at Osmani Hospital, but any problems there would be resolved within six months.
