BNP lawmakers meet in parliament before Sunday’s budget session

Senior lawmakers review preparations as the major legislative session draws near

The ruling BNP has convened its parliamentary party meeting on the eve of the budget session.

The meeting commenced at 3:30pm on Saturday on the eighth floor of the parliament building, according to Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presided over the meeting under the moderation of the Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni, he said.

The budget session of the 13th Parliament will sit on Sunday afternoon.

On Jun 11, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury will present the national budget for the 2026-27 financial year in parliament.

This is the second session of the parliament since its formation following the elections on Feb 12. The first session sat on Mar 11.
