The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has taken special security measures across the country ahead of the Islamic holy day of Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
The security force is working in coordination with other law enforcing agencies, administration, and intelligence agencies to ensure the religious holiday can be celebrated smoothly.
Eid-e-Miladunnabi will be celebrated on Wednesday, Aug 26, which is 12 Rabiul Awal of 1448 Hijri on the Islamic calendar.
RAB announced the special measures in a media statement on Tuesday.
The statement said that on the occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi, regular RAB patrols have been strengthened and intelligence surveillance among plainclothes officers has been stepped up in different places of the country.
Sufficient personnel will be deployed at different event venues as per the need, it added.
Each RAB battalion has also drawn up a security plan for its area after assessing potential risks, with personnel deployed in advance to secure event venues.
Intelligence operations have been intensified to prevent attacks, sabotage and other malicious activities by any vested interest group, suspicious individual or group around Eid-e-Miladunnabi events.
The RAB is also monitoring provocative or controversial activities that could disrupt law and order.
The press note also said RAB's Bomb Disposal Unit and Dog Squad have been kept ready to deal with emergency situations.
Cyber patrols have also been strengthened to identify whether information, rumours, propaganda, misleading and provocative posts, comments or pictures that disrupt communal harmony are being spread on social media.
The RAB has called on Bangladeshis to celebrate Eid-e-Miladunnabi in a peaceful and safe environment. At the same time, it requests individuals to report any suspicious person, object or activity to security personnel.
The RAB hopes that with public awareness and everyone's cooperation, the religious event will be marked in a beautiful and easy manner.
