Four dead as bus rams easy bike in Gopalganj

Police say the victims were on their way to attend a wedding when a bus crashed head-on into their easy bike

Four passengers on an autorickshaw, locally known as an easy bike, have been killed after a bus ploughed into the three-wheeler in Gopalganj's Kashiani Upazila while they were on their way to attend a wedding.

Three others were injured in the accident that occurred around 12pm on Saturday on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway near Majhgati bus stand, according to Sergeant Md Rasel Mia of Bhanga Highway Police Outpost.

The identities of the victims were not immediately known. The injured have been admitted to Kashiani Upazila Health Complex.

Police and witnesses said an Imad Paribahan bus heading to Dhaka from Khulna collided head-on with the easy bike travelling in the opposite direction. The impact left the three-wheeler in a crumpled heap, killing two passengers on the spot and two more after being taken to hospital.

Rasel said the group was travelling from Madaripur to Majhgati village to attend a wedding ceremony.
