1 dies, 5 get injured as pickup, microbus collide in Chattogram

The microbus was travelling to Shah Amanat Airport from Fatikchhari’s Narayanhat

At least one person has died and five others, including women and children, have been injured in a road crash involving a pickup truck and a microbus in Chattogram’s Hathazari.

The accident occurred on the Chattogram-Khagrachhari regional highway in the Farhadabad area of the Upazila on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Md Kawsar, 29, the driver of the microbus. He hailed from Narayanhat in Fatikchhari’s Bhujpur Thana.

Nazirhat Highway Police Station Sub Inspector Shahedul Islam told bdnews24.com, “The Hiace microbus was travelling to Shah Amanat Airport from Fatikchhari’s Narayanhat. The casualties occurred when, around 6:45am, it collided with a fish-laden pickup travelling in the opposite direction near Farhadabad School.”

The victims were rescued and taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared Kawsar dead.

All five of the injured, which included women and children, are receiving treatment, the police official said.
