The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rain in parts of three southern divisions, with showers and gusty winds expected across much of the country.
Meteorologist Abdul Hamid said isolated parts of Barishal, Chattogram and Khulna could bear the brunt of the downpours.
"Most places in these divisions will experience light to moderate rain. However, some areas may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall," he said.
Hamid said the forecast refers to isolated pockets receiving far more rain than surrounding areas.
"One place may receive 30 to 40 millimetres of rain, while another may record 60 to 70 millimetres. It will not occur across the entire division, only in isolated areas," he said.
According to the Met Office forecast for the 24 hours from 9am on Friday, most places in Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, and many places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds.
The forecast also said that isolated areas of Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions could receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Daytime and nighttime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged across the country during the forecast period, the department said.
