Judge’s son killed after attacker breaks into Rajshahi home, wife injured

Police say both the judge’s wife and the assailant are injured during the attack

The son of a judge has been killed after an intruder stormed their residence in Rajshahi City, police say.

The judge’s wife and the assailant were injured in the incident on Thursday afternoon.

Police identified the victim as Tawshif Rahman Sumon, son of Metropolitan and Sessions Judge Abdur Rahman.

“Around 3pm, a man entered the judge’s Dabtala residence and launched an attack. Sumon was killed,” said Gaziur Rahman, deputy commissioner and spokesperson for Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.

Md Mahbub, manager of the building, said a domestic worker on the fifth floor raised the alarm. “When we reached the flat, we found Sumon, his mother Tasmin, and a man named Limon lying on the floor,” he told bdnews24.com.

Sumon was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, Mahbub added. 

Police said Tasmin, identified with a single name, and the suspected attacker were also taken to hospital for treatment.
